Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg, well beaten
1 cup plus 2 tblsp. flour
1/2 tsp. soda

1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. hot water
1 – 6 oz. package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugars, add egg and beat well. Stir together dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture. Add hot water, mix until well blended. Add chocolate chips, nuts and vanilla. Drop small scoops of dough onto parchment lined cookie sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 375º for 10 minutes. Makes 3 ½ dozen.
