Brer Rabbit Molasses Cookies |

3/4 cup shortening |
2 cups sifted flour |

Melt shortening in 3 or 4 quart pan over low heat. Remove from heat; let cool. Add sugar, molasses and egg; beat well. Sift flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt; add to first mixture. Mix well then chill. Form into 1” balls, roll in granulated sugar and place 2” apart on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes in a preheated oven. DO NOT OVER BAKE! |
