December 2008 Reminder

It’s us again, with a couple last minute reminders for our up-coming weekend.
At last count there were 13 R.V.’s reserved,
a good count so far…..so if you haven’t reserved, do it now.

Ocala Ranch Park, 1-877-809-1100.
Jay will be cooking a delicious Christmas dinner on Saturday
and would like a headcount when Teri does his shopping!!

Everything will be included, but desserts are welcome.
Don’t forget about the complimentary hot dog roast before the dance on Friday….
and marshmallow roast after……….and the complimentary breakfast on Sunday,
along with the above mentioned dinner.

The club treasury is good to us at Christmas!
We will have the $5.00 Chinese auction after dinner
so we can wear off all of that delicious food running back and forth exchanging gifts!!!
That, along with all the great dancing Bill has planned for us,
will offer all of us a wonderful final 2008 Campout for the Gypsy’s…..and guests.

Now, just like in church….the old money plea.
National and club dues must be paid by the end of the weekend
as they must be mailed in December.
Our treasurers will be collecting and if you have not paid
and do not plan to attend, you must send them in immediately.

Renewal dues are $30.00 per couple and $15.00 for singles.

October 2008 Reminder

Hi Gypsies, sending a little reminder in regard to our next camping weekend.
It’s that time again therefore Jay and Teri will be happy to accept your dues at this time also.

O’LENO HOEDOWN
will be Oct. 31, Nov. 1 & 2 at O’Leno State Park.
This is a Gypsy/Square Wheels endeavor so it is our November campout with lots of dancers in attendance.
Some of you have signed up to work on one a committee,
but if you have not and wish to participate,
please contact Mary Chesnut at 352-475-2550,
or e-mail her at marynut@cfop.biz.

The rules for O'Leno are pretty much the same as in years past.
If this is your lst O'Leno Hoedown as a Gypsy member and you wish to work,
then you pay the entry fee and sign up to be on a committee.
The fee for dances & meals is $28 per person.

If you have paid in a prior year and have worked,
then all you do this year is pay $6 per person for the Saturday evening dinner
and offer Mary your assistance.
If you just want to attend the hoedown and not work,
the fees are as posted.

We will have the consignment shop again
for Square Dance related clothing, etc.
All items must be clean & on a hanger
with an envelope attached to each item
with the amount & some way to identify you.

Each person is responsible for supplying their own rack or display table,
AND FOR REMOVING ANY UNSOLD ITEMS AT THE END OF THE SATURDAY NITE DANCE.

Just a reminder to those who usually park in the parking lot
the park ranger will no longer allow us to use that lot for overnight parking.

Bill Brown has volunteered to be the club NEFSARDA Representative.

Something we always do at a Gypsy Campout!!

Bill’s Report:

I attended the NEFSARDA quarterly meeting on the Oct 13th. There are a few things that need to be passed to everyone:

1) Need to send a Roster of the Gypsy Squares to Barbara Meyer at 14444 Duval ST. Jacksonville, Fl. 32218. Her E-Mail address is fhmeyer@comcast.net she did receive the check from you.

2) Fall Festival –Gypsy Squares are on the list for refreshments on Friday, Nov. 21st.

3) Jan 31st - NEFSARDA Fifth Saturday Dance at Jax’s Heights—Jim Cosman and Charlie Pergrossi, Callers & Lisa Wall Cueing. Grapevine Subscription Dance

4) Square Dancers Insurance has gone up to $4.25/person. I will mail you the Insurance information. Jay and Terri will know what to do with the paperwork. You only have to pay one enrollment fee if you belong to more than one Club. Dave & Shirley Nihart are the NEFSARDA Association Insurance Chairmen. Fees due by 1 Nov.

5) Fall Festival Camping - Entrance to the camping area is allowed after 2:30 PM on Friday, 21 November 2008.

Hi Gypsies and Happy Fall.
We had a wonderful time helping the Square Wheels
celebrate their 28th anniversary at Pacetti‘s Marina Campground in Green Cove Springs.
Perhaps that should be significant for #128????
Thanks to all of you who attended our September campout.
There was a good crowd and we contributed just over 2 squares to the 9 squares in attendance.
Some of us camped and some just came to represent the Gypsies
and enjoy the great weekend.
Thanks to Lisa Wall we had some great round dance tips on Saturday night.

For those of you who do not know,
Judi Corbett had four bypasses on 2 September 2008.
With help from John, she is making a fast recovery.
Judi is strong enough to resume the duties as Vice President
and take care of the newsletter for us.
Welcome back Judi Corbett.

We encourage those possible to attend the Camp-O-Ree
in Bushnell, Oct. 9,10,11,12th.
As you know we voted to cancel our campout the prior weekend
to support this FANSDC (of which we are members) to attend this camping weekend.
Please let Mary know if you plan to attend, she still has ribbons.
Often time’s special weekends double up,
but certainly the most important thing of all is to dance,
wherever and whenever you have the chance.
Square dancing is such a great activity..........so dance Gypsies!

At this time we would like to interject some REALLY GOOD NEWS
Jay and Teri Peck, our diehard Gypsy members,
have volunteered to assume the Office of Treasurer for this term.
It has been very difficult for John and Jane Mills to carry out the duties
and they were more than happy to hand the books over to the Pecks.
Welcome aboard once again Jay and Teri
and a big thank you from Dale and I and all of the Gypsies.

DUES REMINDER:
Dues (national and club) will be collected from now
through our December Campout at Ocala.
Some of you paid at Pacetti’s and we will also collect at O’Leno.
National has requested dues be in by mid December.

Dale and I realize that our schedule is getting lighter and lighter
but by attending all of the special camping weekends throughout the year
we can still meet often, sharing friendship, fun, laughter, cuisine and each other.
Most important of all
is sharing tips on the dance floor with Bill, the best caller ever,
helping us keep the beat in our feet.

Camp and Dance with the GYPSY SQUARES

The Gypsy Squares camp the first full weekend of March, April, May,
and the 3rd weekend in Sept. at Pacetti's.

There are no summer dances.

October is cancelled to attend the Camp-o-Ree,
we Dance at O'Leno in November.
Our Christmas dance is held the first weekend in December.

Please check the website for updates and campgrounds.

We dance Plus level both Friday and Saturday nights.
Friday nights are casual and Saturday night square dance attire is recommended.
Out hosts and hostesses plan activities for the weekend so be sure to check.
Visitors are welcome to camp with us or just to come and dance.
We do not conduct banner raids with camping clubs,
but we do with clubs in our local area.
